Rain Chains: A Stylish Alternative To Downspouts

Rain chains are a beautiful and functional alternative to traditional downspouts. They guide rainwater from the gutter system to the ground along chains, cups or other designs, which creates an aesthetically pleasing effect.

Rain chains transform a plain downspout into a pleasing water feature creating beautiful curb appeal to your outdoor space. Like downspouts, rain chains prevent water from just falling out of a hole in your gutters and onto the ground, which can cause erosion and splashing. Instead, they break water flow and create a softer, more streamlined landing.

Rain Chain FAQs

Why would I choose rain chains over gutter downspouts?

Rain Chains are more visually appealing then downspouts and provide a soothing sound when in operation. Replacing a downspout with a rain chain provides a pleasing water feature.

Do rain chains work well in the heavy rain?

Yes, however the length of the gutter you are installing the rain chain to, has more of an effect on how functional the rain chain will be. We recommend installing a rain chain on gutter runs of 20 ft or less for maximum functionality. An Installation Kit is also helpful in guiding the water down the chain.

What do you put at the bottom of rain chains?

Basins, saucers, bowls, rocks/pebbles, etc. The chain's purpose is to break the fall of the water and direct it downward gently, minimizing erosion.

Should I use rain barrels with my rain chains?

Yes. Rain Chains work well with Rain Barrels.

Where should I put my rain chains?
